What my environment can do

People trying to help can actually be quite draining because they constantly demand things from you. Any form of contact can be too much. I do need help, but professional help. The people in my environment can’t do anything for me, no matter how much I appreciate their efforts.

At most, it helps when my friend occasionally does an extra errand, or on a better day, it can be nice to go for a walk with a friend so that I don’t have to dwell on that unpleasant feeling. She can chat about her life, and I’ll half-listen. As long as I don’t have to talk. I don’t want to talk about how I feel because that feeling is there, and there’s nothing you can do about it. The more I talk about it, the more I feel like I’m making a big deal out of it and I start feeling guilty, which doesn’t help anyone. While she talks, I can escape from my own head. Let me just listen.
